Don't miss

    East Marshall Softball Preview

The East Marshall softball team went 16-15 last year losing in regional play to West Liberty 4 to 1. The Mustangs were a very young team last year with zero seniors. East Marshall went through a little of a rebuilding year but should be back to compete this season.

The Mustangs don’t have any key departures because they didn’t have any seniors so everyone is back.

Key players returning offensively include Ellen Hungerford who batted 409 with 2 home runs and 23 RBIS as a Sophomore. Maria Rasmussen hit 396 with 27 RBIS as a Freshman. Bobbi Amendt batted 375 with 2 home runs and 16 RBIS. Regan Mcllrath hit 351 with a home run and 14 RBIS. Madison Farrington batted 344 with 5 home runs and 26 RBIS. Amanda Paxton hit 336 with 2 home runs and 32 RBIS. Shae Fetters hit 310 with 11 RBIS. Juliana Arifi batted 295 with a team leading 5 home runs and 32 RBIS.

Key pitching returning include both of East Marshall’s main pitchers Kodie Hoskey who in 16 starts went 8-7 with a 2.97 earned run average striking out 97, and Reagan Mcllrath who in 14 starts had an 8-6 record with a 3.79 ERA in 96 innings. Maria Rasmussen also made one start going 4 innings with a 7.00 ERA.

East Marshall has all the ingredients to be a very good team. The offense should carry the load most nights. The key will be if Hoskey and Mcllrath can improve on what they did as 8th graders. The Mustangs will open the season on Wednesday Night by hosting Denver.
