    West Marshall Softball Preview

The West Marshall softball team went 23-14 losing 2 to 1 in the Regional Semifinals to BCLUW in 9 innings. The Trojans graduated a couple of key seniors but the majority of the team is back.

Key departures offensively include Riley Verwers who was 4th on the team in batting average hitting 379 with 1 home run and 16 RBIS. Shelby Larsen hit 344 scoring 27 runs and driving in 16. The majority of the Trojans offense will return this season.

Key departures for pitching Riley Verwers went 12-3 with 1.41 earned run average in 84.1 innings. Verwers was one of the two main pitchers so West Marshall will have to find a replacement for her.

Key players returning offensively Brooke Snider was the top hitter batting 474 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIS as a Sophomore. Georgia Porter was 2nd on the team in average batting 466 with 1 home run and 19 RBIS. Kallie Malloy batted 393 with 25 RBIS. Kylie Cripps batted 355 with 22 RBIS. Katie Price batted 325 with 3 Home runs and 18 RBIS while scoring 23 runs as a Sophomore. West Marshall’s offense should put up a lot of runs.

Key player returning for pitching include Kallie Malloy who went 11-8 with a 1.56 ERA in 130 innings striking out 104 to just 32 walks. Malloy will be the go to pitcher for West Marshall. Grace Porter pitched a little bit last year in 18 innings she had a 3.89 earned run average.

The biggest thing for West Marshall to have a big season is finding a second arm to go with Kallie Malloy. The Trojans offense should be their biggest strength. West Marshall should be in position to compete for an NICL West conference title. West Marshall will open up the season at Bondurant-Farrar on Tuesday Night.
