Area High School Softball and Baseball Roundup

It was a dramatic night on the softball diamond for eighth-ranked East Marshall.

The Mustangs rallied from behind in the seventh inning to defeat Denver 8-6. Trailing late, East Marshall got a game-tying two-run hit from Miyah Grabenbauer before Peyton Grabenbauer delivered the game-winner with a walk-off two-run home run.

Elsewhere in softball, Dike-New Hartford defeated 12th-ranked West Marshall 7-2. Top-ranked Clarksville blanked BCLUW 7-0, Don Bosco rolled past GMG 14-2, Collins-Maxwell beat Janesville 16-1, Dunkerton topped Colo-NESCO 9-1, North Tama defeated Riceville 6-2, Grundy Center knocked off West Fork 10-3, Algona beat Iowa Falls-Alden 9-2, and Benton swept South Tama by scores of 9-0 and 16-0.

In baseball, West Marshall earned a 12-6 victory over East Marshall. Colo-NESCO defeated Dunkerton 7-4, Clarksville edged BCLUW 8-6, Janesville beat Collins-Maxwell 5-2, Don Bosco topped GMG 17-4, AGWSR defeated Gladbrook-Reinbeck 7-3, Davenport West beat Aplington-Parkersburg 14-4, while A-P bounced back with a 20-6 win over Center Point-Urbana. Grundy Center also posted a dominant 16-2 victory over West Fork.

Meanwhile, South Hardin’s baseball and softball games against Jesup were postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Area High School Baseball and Softball Schedule

A busy evening of high school baseball and softball is on tap across central Iowa.

In baseball, East Marshall will host Gladbrook-Reinbeck at 7 p.m. Fans can hear the game on 92.9 FM or watch live at KDAO.com. Other area matchups include Nevada at Gilbert, North Tama at Dunkerton, Iowa Falls-Alden at Osage, and South Tama hosting Benton.

Marshalltown will entertain Des Moines East in a doubleheader, while South Hardin travels to AGWSR. West Marshall hosts Greene County, and Grundy Center hits the road to face Dike-New Hartford.

On the softball diamond, eighth-ranked East Marshall welcomes Nevada. Iowa Falls-Alden travels to Hampton-Dumont-CAL, while South Tama heads to Solon.

Marshalltown will also host Des Moines East in a softball doubleheader. Fans can watch Game 2, scheduled for approximately 7 p.m., on KDAO.com.

Elsewhere, South Hardin visits AGWSR, West Marshall hosts Greene County, and Grundy Center travels to Dike-New Hartford.
