Here’s a roundup of last night’s high school action and a quick look at the NBA Finals.

In high school softball, 2A #9 West Marshall edged past Roland-Story, 7-5, while 1A #12 Collins-Maxwell shut out GMG, 7-0. Fort Dodge continued its dominating run in 4A, sweeping Marshalltown with lopsided wins of 17-0 and 16-0. Other winners included BCLUW over North Tama, 5-1; Baxter blanking Colo-Nesco, 10-0; Nevada defeating Perry, 11-3; and Iowa Falls-Alden taking down Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 8-4.

Over to high school baseball, West Marshall rolled past Union, 13-1, and Collins-Maxwell again blanked GMG, 10-0. Grundy Center squeaked by Columbus Catholic, 6-4, while North Tama topped BCLUW, 10-8. Fort Dodge with a doubleheader sweep of Marshalltown, 13-3 and 11-5. Baxter shut out Colo-Nesco, 9-0; Perry pulled off a 14-13 win over Nevada, and South Hardin edged Webster City, 6-5, in eight innings.

And in the NBA Finals, the New York Knicks jumped out to a 1-0 series lead with a 105-95 win over the Spurs.

Tonight on the local sports scene, a trip to the state tournament is on the line in girls soccer regional finals.

GCGR hits the road to face Class 1A 12th-ranked Iowa Falls-Alden in a 7 p.m. regional championship match. You can catch all the action live on 92.9 FM and online at KDAO.com. In another regional final, Class 1A 7th-ranked Aplington-Parkersburg hosts Beckman Catholic at 7 o’clock. The winners advance to the State Soccer Tournament beginning Monday at the Lied Recreation Athletic Fields in Ames.

On the baseball and softball schedule tonight, AGWSR travels to East Marshall. The East Marshall softball game will be streamed live at 7 p.m. on KDAO.com. BCLUW hosts Don Bosco, Grundy Center travels to Union, South Hardin welcomes Jesup, and Marshalltown is on the road at Des Moines Roosevelt.

In baseball-only action, Gladbrook-Reinbeck visits Wapsie Valley, PCM travels to Iowa Falls-Alden, and Aplington-Parkersburg heads to Dike-New Hartford.

On the softball diamond, Dike-New Hartford travels to Decorah, while South Tama visits North Tama.
