Regional Semifinal Softball Results

East Marshall is one win away from a third consecutive trip to the state softball tournament after shutting out Columbus Catholic 8-0 in six innings Friday night. The Mustangs advance to Monday’s regional championship game, where they’ll travel to Wapsie Valley for a 7 p.m. first pitch. Wapsie Valley earned its spot in the final with a 4-3 victory over Grundy Center.

West Marshall also advanced to a regional final by defeating Woodward-Granger 6-1. The Trojans will face second-ranked Grand View Christian on Monday at 7 p.m. at Hoover High School in Des Moines with a state tournament berth on the line.

Elsewhere in Class 1A, 11th-ranked North Butler edged Turkey Valley 2-1 in 10 innings, second-ranked Clarksville blanked Lone Tree 9-0, and third-ranked St. Edmond defeated Collins-Maxwell 11-3.

Substate Baseball Results

Marshalltown’s season came to an end with a 15-0 loss to Johnston in substate play. Waverly-Shell Rock defeated Nevada 5-2, Xavier rolled past South Tama 33-0, and Independence shut out Iowa Falls-Alden 6-0.
