#9 Iowa 77 #4 Nebraska 71

Iowa clinched their first trip to the elite 8 since 1987. Iowa didn’t lead till 2:10 remaining in the game on a 3 by Bennett Stirtz to put Iowa up 68 to 65. The next Iowa possession Tate Sage hit a 3 pointer to give Iowa a 74 to 68 lead. Nebraska would hit a 3 to pull within 3 with just 58 seconds remaining. The next possession their was a bunch of confusion, Nebraska had just 4 players on the floor Iowa would throw the ball ahead to Alvaro Folgueiras who would get fouled and score to put Iowa up 74 to 68 after he made the free throw. Folgueiras would get free again with 34 seconds left for a big dunk to put Iowa up 8. Nebraska would hit a 3 late but it wouldn’t be enough as Iowa overcame a double digit deficit in the first half and 3 point deficit at halftime.

#9 Iowa will play #3 Illinois in the elite 8 on saturday at 509 pm on TBS/TRUTV as the Illini knocked off #2 Houston 65 to 55. Iowa lost to Illinois in the regular season 75 to 69 on January 11th.
