High school softball teams were in action across central Iowa Saturday in tournament play.
At the Dave Lee Classic in Conrad, the Marshalltown picked up a pair of victories, defeating South Hardin 10-1 and AGWSR 17-7. Sumner-Fredericksburg blanked BCLUW 14-0, while Grundy Center defeated BCLUW 6-0.
Grundy Center continued its winning day with a narrow 1-0 victory over West Marshall. West Marshall bounced back later in the tournament with a 9-0 shutout of AGWSR. In another contest, Gilbert topped South Hardin 9-1.
At the BGM Tournament, Class 2A fifth-ranked East Marshall earned two close wins. The Mustangs opened with a 5-2 victory over host BGM before edging Twin Cedars 3-2 to remain unbeaten on the day. East Marshall High School
Meanwhile, at the Jesup Tournament, Dike-New Hartford opened with a 5-3 win over Washington but fell in its second game, dropping a 9-8 decision in nine innings to Center Point-Urbana.

A full schedule of high school baseball and softball is on tap across the area today, including several key conference matchups and a battle between ranked softball teams.
On the softball diamond, Class 2A number-12 West Marshall faces Class 2A number-6 Grand View Christian at Hoover High School in Des Moines. Nevada hosts Roland-Story, BCLUW welcomes Rockford, and East Marshall entertains Dike-New Hartford.
Other softball contests have South Hardin traveling to Union, North Tama hosting Janesville, GMG visiting Dunkerton, and Colo-NESCO on the road at Don Bosco. Collins-Maxwell travels to #1 Clarksville, Iowa Falls-Alden meets St. Edmond in a varsity doubleheader, AGWSR hosts Jesup, and South Tama travels to Vinton-Shellsburg.
In baseball, Marshalltown is at home for a varsity doubleheader against Des Moines North. Gladbrook-Reinbeck travels to Denver, while West Marshall and Grand View Christian meet in a varsity doubleheader at Hoover High School.
Nevada hosts Roland-Story for a varsity twinbill, A-P travels to Hudson, and BCLUW hosts Rockford. East Marshall welcomes Dike-New Hartford, South Hardin visits Union, and North Tama hosts Janesville.
The remainder of the baseball schedule features GMG at Dunkerton, Colo-NESCO at Don Bosco, Collins-Maxwell at Clarksville, Iowa Falls-Alden at St. Edmond for a varsity doubleheader, AGWSR hosting Jesup, and South Tama traveling to Vinton-Shellsburg.
