RAINSBARGER DAYS 2019
It will be a fun filled weekend as Steamboat Rock celebrates Rainsbarger Days
2019. Listed is a schedule of events. Stop in and visit our Library, Historical
Society, and Schoolhouse. Along with the events, take time to explore the many
beautiful areas that surround the area.
Friday, August 30th
5:00-7:00 PM
The Library Committee will be hosting its annual Gourmet Burger fundraiser at the Boat Club.
Along with the dinner there will be a pie auction. The dinner is of a free will offering. Stop in the
library on Saturday morning to check out many of the updates!
7:00 PM
Join the Historical Society to hear our guest speaker. O.J. Fargo is the author of two books on Iowa
history and everyday life of a Civil War soldier and Iowa in the Civil War. His program is entitled:
Just Before the Battle Mother- A Visit from a Civil War Soldier. Mr. Fargo dresses in full Union
Army regalia for his presentation, will bring an artifact display, engage with the audience, and
much more.

7:30 – 10:00 AM
Omelet Breakfast sponsored by The Steamboat Rock Pride & Betterment Committee at the
Presbyterian Church. Made to order omelets are a treat you won’t to miss! Get your protein to
sustain you through the rest of the morning or to refuel after the SK!
9:00 AM – 1 :00 PM
The Historical Society will be open. Browse through the Historical Society Museum and take a
walk through Steamboat Rock’s past.
10:00 AM – 1 PM
The Steamboat Rock Library will be open. Stop by and check the many new improvements that
1:00PM
3 rd Annual Battle of the Bags at Happenings on Market Street. The Battle starts at 1 :00, please
sign up by noon.
Dusk
Saturday Night Fireworks display at the Ball Diamond.
Sunday, September 1st
7:00-9:00AM
Start your morning with a great breakfast at the Boat Club.
10:00AM
Community Worship Service at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Pastor Lynn Arends from the
Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church will be bringing the message and worship will be led by the
Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket.
12:00 Noon- Meal at Mama’s at the Schoolhouse.
Monday, Sept.2nd 4:00 – 7:00 PM
Chicken and sweet com at the Boat Club. No Rainsbarger celebration would be complete without
attending the long-time tradition of the sweet com and chicken meal served at the Boat Club!
