HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS RECAP
In high school softball, West Marshall shut out South Hamilton 11 to nothing, while Grundy Center handed Class 2A ninth-ranked East Marshall a 4 to 1 loss. GMG edged BCLUW 1 to nothing, and Ames swept Marshalltown by scores of 9 to 3 and 9 to 1.
Collins-Maxwell blanked Colo-NESCO 10 to nothing in four innings, North Tama defeated Baxter 4 to 1, and Class 3A seventh-ranked PCM topped Nevada 11 to 3. Iowa Falls-Alden beat Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 11 to 3, Sumner-Fredericksburg downed AGWSR 12 to 2, and Dike-New Hartford defeated Hudson 8 to 2. Class 3A eighth-ranked West Delaware swept South Tama 12 to nothing and 10 to 2.
In baseball, Class 2A sixth-ranked Grundy Center defeated East Marshall 4 to 1. Ames swept Marshalltown in a doubleheader, winning 14 to 13 and 14 to 4. West Marshall blanked South Hamilton 4 to nothing, PCM edged Nevada 5 to 4, and Collins-Maxwell rolled past Colo-NESCO 13 to 1.
Baxter shut out North Tama 6 to nothing, while GMG outlasted BCLUW 11 to 10. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Iowa Falls-Alden split a doubleheader, with CGD winning the opener 10 to 5 before IFA took the nightcap 5 to nothing. South Hardin beat A-P 13 to 9, Sumner-Fredericksburg defeated AGWSR 6 to 4, Dike-New Hartford routed Hudson 14 to 1, and West Delaware blanked South Tama 15 to nothing.
